The Sony DCR-SR57E Camcorder holds a whopping 80 GB hard drive which lets you store up to 61 hours of high quality Standard Definition video.

Hard to miss any important scenario in your shoot and also the epic zoom functionality provides a magnetic view from any angle you wish to capture. The zoom functionality is decorated with a highly appraised Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens which provides the end user the ability to zoom up to 60x through optical arrangement and an amazing 2000x digital zoom.   

The 800K pixel CCD sensor captures every minute detail from the picture perfect view and provides a high quality image capturing experience. Adding an optional memory stick to the recording experience provides you another option of saving the video or still images using HYBRID technology.

In order to enable quick and easy searches, Sony DCR-SR57E is embedded with a Face Index and Film Roll Index, a unique feature which makes your unique moments jump right in front of your eyes with a quick search. High quality video recording with a resolution of 720×576 pixels in MPEG-2 format delivers top notch video storage capability rivalled by a few high end other camcorders.  

The unique capability of start-up from standby with ultra low consumption of power in sleep mode makes this camcorder a queer composition when it comes to saving power to shoot videos and still images. Sound recording capability boasts of recording 5.1 surround sound with zoom mic to capture clearer dialogue and notes made by the foreground objects. 2.7″ wide LCD Screen provides a visual extravaganza and smooth operation through the touch screen.   

Provided with an optional battery, Sony DCR-SR57E shoots up to 11.5 hours of continuous video using STAMINA technology. So, you can just set it up and forget about the camcorder and get nearly 12 hour video to be used where it suits better. Connecting the camcorder to any PC is as easy as inserting a USB and enabling the Easy PC backup which works on USB 2.0 technology. But, a minor glitch is USB can be used only for output and you can’t place any files in the camcorder’s free memory.   

One Touch Disc Burn is another applaud-able feature which assists professionals on constant move to burn the contents of the camcorder directly on a DVD. No downloading, copying and burning again and again. Just hit the “Write” button and you get a content rich DVD from the camcorder. Being DVDirect Express compatible, it’s quite an easy task to get the data written onto a DVD using VRD-P1 DVD writer.  

Consider this an icing to the cake, the Sony DCR-S57E weighs only 300 grams making it an easy carry. Nice to hear that but will I feel the loss when I miss this camcorder from my shoulder?
